IMPACT CHARACTERISTICS AND INPUT ANALYSIS OF NITROGEN & PHOSPHORUS IN LUOYUAN BAY OF CHINA

ABSTRACT :

This paper studies the pollution characteristics of nitrogen and phosphorus by single-factor analysis of water quality basing on the long - term observation data from 1985 to 2009 in Luoyuan Bay. The results show that the concentration of nitrogen and phosphorus could meet the second class of seawater quality standard from 1985 to 1999. However, it rapidly increased after 2000. Inorganic nitrogen and active phosphate reached the highest value respectively in 2007 and 2008, which exceed the fourth class of seawater quality standards. According to nitrogen and phosphorus pollution characteristics analysis in 2008, the concentration of nitrogen and phosphorus pollution are higher in spring and winter, lower in summer and autumn. Based on the input mechanism analysis of nitrogen and phosphorus with survey and monitoring data from 2009 to 2010 in Luoyuan Bay, the contribution level of nitrogen input factors is: Ll(land)> Lm(mariculture)> Lad(atmospheric deposition), and the contribution level of phosphorus input factors is: Lm > Ll > Lad. The ratio of mariculture contribution is 66% for TP input source, and the ratio of land input contribution is 46% for TN input source. The main input source of nitrogen and phosphorus is land erosion, the ratio of land erosion contribution is 55% for TN, and 47% for TP. Qibuxi basin is the most important input source from land in Luoyuan Bay.
